Roof cleaning + gutter cleaningExperience and Good Comments
I found Allen through here and asked him to do a gutter/ roof cleaning since my gutter has been blocked. He estimated the price to be $200 and estimated to finish it in 1 to 2 hours. That day turned out to a raining day. He came on time and washed the roof with every detail. After the washing, he collected all the debris fall from the roof and gutter. What impressed us most is that he not only cleaned the debris, but also cleaned most leaves (there was a lot!) in our front and back yards, which would be half of a gardener's work. He finished everything after about 5 hours, when the day had become dark and it was still raining! After all, he helped me throw away some large woods that my car cannot hold and would dump them to trash collection place which will cost him some additional money and labor work to do so. We quite appreciate his work and attitude and gave him $280 finally.
Gutter guard installation, clean roof and gutter as wellExperience and Good Comments
Found Allen through here, and contacted him to setup a time for gutter guard installation. Initial estimate was 2-3 hours for $250.
He was a little late on the date of appointment but not too much. Because it was just after the wind storm, my gutter and roof were very dirty so he helped me clean up those first. Then he spent the rest of his time installing the gutter. He was very detailed and professional, and really took the time to make sure that the gutter guards were installed correctly.
Overall, it took him 4-5 hours to finish the job, and when I asked him how much, he asked for only $250. I thought that he deserved more so I gave him $300.
Repair deck railing, gutter clean, repair small holes on the roof plastic pipeExperience and Good Comments
My dog has bitten the deck railing hardly, although it might be hard to see from the picture, literally half of the wood are gone...I tried to repair it first by using wooden filler to fill up the deep bitten marks, but it looks very ugly and it's very hard to do the work. Allen came in and he has all the professional tools, he did a very good job on fixing the railing as it almost looks like new!
He also climbed up to the roof, cleaned the gutter and fixed a small hole in pipe that was caused by birds digging.
All these jobs only took 2.5 hours and I would recommend him on other roof/wood related work.
installed the saferacks from costcoExperience and Good Comments
I hired Allen to repair/rebuild my deck from July 2017 to Aug, please see my another review. At the end of the deck project, I asked Allen whether he wants to work with me to install the saferacks from Costco. He agreed and has the same rate of $25 hourly.
In total, we spent about 4.5 hours (3.5 hour + 1 hour) to install two of 8' by 4' saferack. The service provider from Costco will charge $125 to install one, and $250 to install two of them.
08/07/2017, installed the 1st 8' by 4' saferacks from costco // slightly more than 3.5 hours, good learning experience for both of allen and me.
08/08/2017, Tuesday, installed the 2st saferacks (55 minues) // 3 hours
Note: Allen has the power tools, i provided the ladder.
Repaired (almost rebuilt) the rotten deck, painted for 3 coatsExperience and Good Comments
My deck is about 10x10, not including stairs. After 17 years, it became rotten and unsafe for kid to play around it. I quoted a few service providers, minimum is 2000+ to rebuild with wood material. If go with composite material, the price will be double at least.
I got Allen's contact from a colleague in the chatting group. Allen's daily work is to build customized furniture, so there is no problem for him to do a wood deck. His rate per Aug, 2017 is $25 hour, and power wash is a separated work item costing $100 alone. After power washing, we did the inspection together and found most wood piece must be replaced. The total price I put in this review only covers the labor cost. The material is about $200, paint is extra.
Here is the summary I sent to Allen after completion.
07/24/2017, Monday, did power wash on deck and fence // $100
07/25/2017, Tuesday, selected all materials, lumber and screws, from HomeDepot, bought to house, started to tear down the existing rotten frame // 3.5 hours
07/26/2017, Wednesday, deck surface is 75% done // 4 hours
07/27/2017, Thursday, deck surface 95% done, started the rail a little bit // slightly less than 4 hours
07/31/2017, Monday, deck surface 97% done, the rail 50% // 4 hours
08/01/2017, Tuesday, completed all deck wood work // 4 hours
08/02/2017, Wednesday, painted 1st coat (wrong stain caused by my mistake, not Allen's) on deck // 3.5 hours
08/03/2017, Thursday, painted 2nd coat (right stain) on deck // 3.5 hours
08/06/2017, Sunday, hauled away the old deck stuff and dumped to the dumps // slightly less than 2 hours
08/08/2017, Tuesday, painted 3rd coat (2nd coat of right stain) on deck // 2 hours
